My joinery work is split in to manufacturing and building.
I have a fully equipped workshop to produce items such as doors, windows, cabinets, roof structures etc. All are made to the full EJMA standards, unlike most of what I have seen so far in Portugal. I also guarantee all products that are manufactured in house, and can do one off sizes and copy any original style or pattern as required.
I do repair and installation work on site which includes all aspects of joinery. I can also repair furniture and re upholster.
I work on an hourly rate that is about 25% of my uk rates which works out at about 10 euro per hour. However many jobs like hanging doors would be done at a fixed rate. As a guide 25 to 40 euros dependent on the type and quaintly to be done at each site.
I have a very extensive range of tools and machinery for most building tasks and transport.
I am also able to respond to urgent work. ie. storm or crime damage to secure doors, windows or repair/re glaze broken windows. I carry a small stock of glass and locks for this purpose. I can be available 24/7 though this of course is reflected in my fees for this type of work.
My interest in joinery was kindled by my grand farther who ran a boat building and ran a repair yard in North Yorkshire. My first job as apprentice in 1969 was the renovation of listed buildings for an organization which became the National Trust. I went on to start making specialist items and one offs in my workshops located in East Sussex employing 4 men until my retirement in February of last year at 53 years old.
I am based in the village of Povoa dos Mosqueiros which is located between Santa Comba Dao and Tabua and is about 2k from the IP 3.
